London, Here We Go Again!
During our recent stay in London, we spent a busy three days doing all sorts of activities. The memories from our last trip inspired us to return and we made sure to revisit some of our favourite activities while also exploring a few exciting new experiences. Our first day began by taking a train to the Shard where we enjoyed a wonderful Peter Pan themed high tea with views of the city. During our last visit to London we enjoyed the Willie Wonka high tea we went to so we knew we had to find another afternoon tea experience. We were served several types of small sandwiches and a large selection of delicious desserts arranged on a pirate ship. After our tea we walked along the river Thames and looked at what many think is London Bridge but learned on our last trip it is actually called Tower Bridge.
The next morning we revisited another highlight of our last trip, Go Ape. Go Ape is a treetop trekking adventure in Battersea Park where you go through obstacles high up in the trees. This time however the whole family participated and we opted for the more challenging course. After about three hours of trekking we got fish and chips for lunch and rested for a few hours before heading to what I was most excited for during our visit. For those who don't know, my favourite TV show is Stranger Things and recently the creators of the show wrote and produced a stage play. So that evening we went to the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End to watch Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The play was incredible. We found out so much valuable information that will come into play in the final season. Along with that, the acting, the special effects and the stage design were all so amazing and the entire play blew my mind. I wish I could watch it over again. Maybe it will come to Canada.
On our last full day in London we got on a train and went to Hampton Court. Hampton Court was one of the palaces where Henry VIII lived. Before our travels we went to see Six The Musical which was a story of his six wives and we thought it would be cool to see one of the palaces he lived in. Henry VIII is also talked about in many other places in England we would visit later. We took a tour of the entire castle and it was quite interesting. We also got to explore his gardens and go in a bush maze. After that we got ice cream. Although short, our trip to London was packed full of exciting adventures and it was only the start of our trip through England.
