My Awesome Terrific Very Good Day
Bungy Jumping in New Zealand
I spent my 12th birthday on the south island in New Zealand. It was an awesome terrific very good day because of the amazing things I did.
First I went bungee jumping and had to wake up super early to get ready. I wore sweatpants and my Paris Olympic hoodie. We got in the car and drove all the way to the bridge that I would jump off. In the car ride I was super nervous. When we got there I had to step on the scale to see what rope I had to use. Once they had my weight they put a number on my hand and sent me outside to get a harnesed up. It was similar to the ones I used for rock climbing. Once that was secure I had to step down to this little hut on the bridge where the plank you jumped off was. Down there they put a towel on my legs and put the rope on it then put a second rope on my harness. I was all ready to go so I waddeled my way to the edge of the plank and held the pole as tight as I could. It was super high and I was kinda scared. I stood at the point where just my heels were on the plank. The worker was holding my harness and then he let go and I started to fall towards the river. It was only scary for split seconds because the moment you felt the rope tug you back up you knew that you weren't actually going to die. I felt my feet slip a bit so I put them super straight and tightened them. I was still swinging side to side above the water when the people in the raft stuck out this huge white pole and I had to try and grab onto it. I missed a few times because I was still swinging fast but I eventually slowed down and was able to grab the pole. I was slowly lowered down and fell into the raft. I felt the blood quickly rush back to my head. When I got off the raft I went back to my family and we drove home talking all about it.
A few hours later it was time to go lugeing. We drove the car to the base of the mountain and then took a gondola to the top. We tried on some helmets till we found the ones that fit, then got a quick briefing on how to steer. I had already done this before so I knew what I was doing. When the lesson was over we got into our carts and started racing down the mountain. I went at a pretty moderate pace until I got to a steep part of the track. I was going down faster now and heard this guy behind me scream something but I couldn't fully understand. A few seconds later this other person on a luge crashed behind me and my cart almost flipped. The other guy beside me went flying into the wall sideways. It was cool to watch but I felt bad for them. We went on a ton of more runs after that and they were all super exciting.
When we were finished lugeing we went back into the main building and went to the Stratosphere Restaurant for dinner. It was an all you can eat buffet with views of Queenstown and the lake and mountains that surround it. There was all kinds of food to choose from so I took my plate and had a walk around. I picked up some pasta, mashed potatoes, salmon, sushi, chicken and a bunch of other foods. I gobbled it down and was ready for the most important part: dessert. I took a new plate and went to fill up. Later my dad gave me a slice of cake with a candle on it. My family sang Happy Birthday then I made my wish. Once we were done eating we went back down the mountain on the gondola and went home. That is what I did on my awesomel terrific really good day.
